June Monthly Meeting:  Round Table Discussion - Parking & Parks and Recreation

The June Meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at 7:30 pm at the Education House, 5 Homeside Lane, White Plains, NY. The meeting will be a Round Table on two topics of concern for our neighborhoods: Parking and its enforcement, and Parks and Recreation within the city.

PARKING
Being able to park in the City of White Plains without the fear of seeing a parking ticket on your car windshield when you return to your vehicle has been a huge on-going issue among White Plains residents for years. The super-strict enforcement of parking within the city has stifled small businesses from flourishing and drives people away from returning to White Plains with the thought of getting a parking ticket looming on their minds. What are more effective ways of handling parking in the City? What parking incentives should be offered to White Plains taxpayers since they already pay substantial taxes to live in the City? Which parts of the City does Parking enforcement really affect? These are all questions that will help us identify the root cause of the problem, leading to several possible solutions that will be presented before the City.

PARKS AND RECREATION
It’s that time of year again where the weather is nice, and everyone is out-and-about.  Having abundant parks and recreational activities are vital for a thriving city. Rather than leaving White Plains and going elsewhere to enjoy a park or a recreational activity, residents can stay local to enjoy everything that their tax dollars pay for. What additional recreational activities would you like to see in White Plains? In lieu of all the new apartments and proposed apartments in the City, how about a new park that gives back to the community? Is there enough communication between the City and its residents concerning what recreational activities exist depending on season, age, culture, etc.? What can the City and/ or residents do to help maintain/ beautify the parks? How can the WPCNA and other active Neighborhood Associations help? The answers to these questions can help our parks and recreation be the best it can possibly be for our residents. We look to present these answers before the City in hope of bringing change to our communities for the better.

The meeting will be a Neighborhood Round Table for WPCNA delegates, residents and the public. We hope to facilitate a healthy dialog to better understand the issues, opinions and ideas coming out of our neighborhoods. We all look forward to your input.

The meeting is open to the public -- bring your friends and neighbors -- and will start promptly at 7:30 pm. Light refreshments will be served.

This is sure to be a lively evening so please come early to allow time for audience participation and networking.

NOTE:
Annual WPCNA dues for 2019 are still only $25. Neighborhood association delegates should bring a check payable to WPCNA to the meeting or mail their check to WPCNA/Tom Osbeck PO Box 602 White Plains NY 10602. One check per association.
